The Power to Cure and Prevent Illness with Your Mind

11

Every hour of every day, we are surrounded by potential sources of illness. If so, why do some people never get sick while others constantly battle infections? The air quality in your home is probably the worst you can imagine, serving as a veritable smorgasbord for bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms. Is your robust immune system solely ensuring your continued good health, or are there additional factors at play?

I went food shopping on the way home from the office yesterday. I remarked how clogged the checker was. I wasted three or four minutes talking to her about health-related topics. When I tell individuals they can choose to be healthy, that they are bringing sickness upon themselves via their thoughts and actions, they often take my words as an insult. I can elaborate, but it will take over a minute or two.

SHE DIDN’T BUY IT when I quickly explained that people get sick because they want to be sick for whatever reason. She had to come back and tell everyone that a family member had died of cancer. Oh no, now I’ve made a big stink about something. She praised him as upbeat and optimistic, implying that his disposition made him immune to disease. However, she did concede that illness happens for a “reason.” She was probably alluding to spiritual motivations. Her statements were heartfelt, and I could tell she was upset by the idea that this man was intentionally diagnosed with a fatal disease.

Intelligence gives birth to reason, an account of the logical steps involved in acting. So, accidentally, she agreed with me that there was a purpose to a family member’s death from cancer. Therefore, the illness was driven by intelligence, rationale, and purpose. Which way do we go now? Because the body is responsible for activating the mechanism that allows disease, a conscious choice must be made for this to occur. If this is the case, whose intention is to subject the body to illness, and to what end?

These situations are difficult to comprehend unless a deeper understanding of oneself is attained. If you believe that the human being is more than just the sum of their physical parts and that there is a life force within or of the body, then you can start to see that the two parts need to work together in harmony. The body can’t just go out and perform something without some motivation.

You now have complete autonomy over the land and everything in it. The land is teeming with viruses, germs, and bacteria. They share the same time and place, and our immune systems constantly work to eliminate them from our bodies. Therefore, it would appear that maintaining a robust immune system is the key. Our will (since we have freedom of choice [unconditional love]) at some level of consciousness decides illness, yet even highly evolved immune systems can fail.

I have a deep intuitive understanding of this, and I was the first person in the world to successfully treat a debilitating illness by myself when I was seven years old. I also shared housing with a brother or sister who is a hypochondriac. My first book, “Your Life Was Never Meant to be a Struggle,” tells our family’s and my narrative.

A person’s mental attitude can significantly impact their physical health and vice versa. When you are ill, your body tries to alert your mind that something is wrong. It could be something minor that happened recently or has been bothering you for years. Everything that ails you has a root cause in some aspect of your life. The cashier in my story just made an educated guess about her father’s preferences when she described him as a very upbeat person who wouldn’t want to become sick. Since you can never know the desires of another person’s soul, your judgments of them will always be off. Because of this disconnection, the person usually has no idea what they want. Many of us develop a persistent nagging dissatisfaction with the trajectory of our lives over many years. As time passes, we accept it and wait for a catastrophic event or terminal illness to serve as a wake-up call.

Some people deliberately seek out illness, but for the most part, people let their subconscious mind decide for them. Some people mistreat or abuse their bodies to receive the attention they crave and make a statement about how they feel. All of these cases include a deliberate attempt to get oneself sick. Neither God nor the universe nor viruses nor germs nor bacteria are to blame for human illness. There is always a purpose behind a person inviting disease into their lives.

The real benefit comes from understanding how illness presents itself and realizing that you do not have to be sick. You can avoid getting sick in the first place if you stop pointing fingers at other people or God and start taking personal responsibility for your health. When cold symptoms appear, take stock of the past few days or weeks or two and see if you can pinpoint any patterns that aren’t serving you well. Is it your job, a tense relationship with a loved one, a disagreeable spouse or acquaintance, or something else? Your body is trying to tell you something.

Significant illnesses or accidents are frequent indicators of underlying issues that have not been addressed over extended periods. There may be a need for introspection on the part of the individual or for the assistance of a therapist or life coach. It’s important to remember that the ailment won’t go away until the underlying cause has been addressed. Throughout a lifetime, it could be a sequence of diseases or accidents or happen randomly when you believe things are going well. Illness can be greeted with open arms by the stresses of daily life, including interpersonal interactions, job, and even commuter traffic. A lot of people don’t want to admit that their partner or relative could be the cause of their health problems. Or the idea that an unsatisfactory job may contribute to health problems.

Whenever we feel ethically bound to or forced to alter our current situation, most of us will use illness as an excuse to avoid doing so. We either wait for someone else to take charge or initiate the necessary adjustments, or we do nothing. Worse yet, we justify our low self-worth by assuming that God’s retribution for our sins is to be sick.

Your body will tell you how it’s going if you don’t take charge of your life. It only takes a positive mental attitude to overcome illness.
